Diabetes Basics - Two Class Series
 
Time: 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM (CST)
Location: Hines, Building 200, Basement, Room D009B
 
A two-day class for Veterans with diabetes. The class provides a detailed overview of diabetes. Topics include:
  • Meal planning
  • Preventing complications
  • Stress management
  • Medicines
  • Physical activity
  • Coping with the disease
Also available via telehealth at Kankakee, Oak Lawn, and LaSalle CBOCs (outpatient clinics). Your health care provider must refer you to this class.
 
 
i-Rest Yoga Nidra
 
Time: 11:30 AM- 12:30 PM (CST)
Location: Hines Hospital, Building 228, 4th Floor, Room 4027
 
Join us for a guided mindfulness practice. This can help you relax and improve your sense of well-being.
 
Research supports the iRest practice to relieve symptoms of:
  • Pain
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Sleep troubles
  • Trauma

Recreation Therapy Open Session
 
Time: 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM (CST)
Location: Hines, Building 1, 5th Floor, Room 5044
 
A weekly program that gives Veterans a chance to participate in social and leisure activities. A time to connect and socialize with other Veterans during table tennis, card games, or creative writing and art.

ALS Support Group
 
Time: 1:30 PM- 3:00 PM (CST)
Location: Hines, Building 12, 3rd Floor, Speech Pathology Department
 
This group was designed to provide Veterans with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease), their caregivers, and family members an opportunity to exchange information, ask questions, and receive emotional support from group facilitators and other families sharing similar experiences.
