Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a specialty of Kinesiotherapy. Inpatients receiving Kinesiotherapy services for cardiac rehab (Phase I) may have had recent surgeries, procedures or heart conditions such as coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve surgery, coronary angioplasty, stent procedures, or internal defibrillator/pacemaker surgery; a recent heart attack; an exacerbation of congestive heart failure; or heart rhythm disturbances.

Kinesiotherapy services for cardiac inpatients include mobility training; strength training; conditioning; and education in home exercise programs and activities patients should avoid upon discharge.

These programs are physician-supervised and administered by kinesiotherapist who are also certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as Clinical Exercise Specialists. They perform stress tests, develop exercise programs, and monitor and assess patients during aerobic and strengthening exercise sessions.
